Wedding #2 – The One on a Boat

Now this wedding I do remember. In flashes. I must not have been more than six years old. The four of us walked down the declining dock onto a large boat that was docked in the Vancouver harbour, my parents, my sister and I.

I don’t think I attended the ceremony, because I have no memory of it, however I do remember walking into the floating ballroom. It was completely filled with balloons, streamers, and large centerpieces on every table.

We sat down, and it wasn’t long before my sister and I were mesmerized by the disposable cameras on the table, the silk ribbons filled with Jordan almonds, and the cold water passing by out of the room’s windows. I received more than a photograph to remember this wedding by, as each guest was given their wine glass from the reception, which were beautifully painted with these little blue tulips.

The four matching wine glasses lived in a hutch in my parents’ living room, alongside other precious crystal-ware, for many years. Until recently that is, when I decided to give them some use and bring them back to my apartment with me. Now I can sit, drinking wine from a glass with little blue tulips, reminiscing about all those times my sister and I sat in front of that glass case, admiring all the beautiful things.

And yes, my titles are getting a little Friends like.
