Wedding #13 – The Invitation.

I received the invitation while at school abroad. It was odd to be so far away during such important events in friends’ lives. This was the first wedding I was ever unable to attend.

The bride and I used to talk about boys, our futures, our future boys and weddings, in pre-calculus in high school. I still have notes that we wrote back and forth to one another. But missing this particular milestone changed our friendship forever, and this is something that saddens me on the regular.

She married and moved hours away, up North, and she has two small, beautiful children that I’ve never met. Our lives are now only connected through Instagram and the occasional story reply. Though our friendship did not remain as strong as it once was, I will always cherish the moments we had, and I will always look forward to the family photos in the yearly Christmas card.

I will also always remember that wedding invitation. It is the most beautiful invitation I have ever received, to this day. From the envelope, to the card stock the invitation was printed on, to the lace and burlap that wrapped around it, everything was perfect.
